Language Project
DCHP recently purchased software which has enabled our office to create, maintain and archive our Tiwa language.
Currently we are in the process of inputting collected data from an 1896 Charles Lummis word list. We have already completed a Language Dictionary of all the known words from the Piro Language. We will continue collecting and inputting all known Tiwa words, new and old, for archiving purposes. In the future the software will be used as a tool in assisting community members learn the Tiwa language. Once all remodels have been made to the “Old Elementary School”, we will host classroom instruction for community member interested in learning the Tiwa language. In addition to the software, we are currently outlining a curriculum that would align the language.
